We reported earlier today that Injustice 2 had been seemingly confirmed via leaked promo posters, and now the official confirmation has come. Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have just confirmed the Injustice 2 release, it’s the sequel to the popular Injustice: Gods Among Us game. It’s promised that this in-development game from NetherRealm Studios is going to feature a “massive roster” of DC Super Heros and Super-Villians, enabling players to build and power up the ultimate version of their favorite DC characters.
“In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios.
Injustice 2 expands on the experience of its predecessor, players define every battle and personalize iconic DC characters with unique and powerful gear that’s earned throughout the game. For the first time, players will also be allowed to control how their characters look, fight, and develop across game modes.
The cinematic story introduced in Injustice: Gods Among Us continues in Injustice 2 with Batman and his allies working to rebuild society while fighting those who want to restore Superman’s regime. In the midst of all this, a new threat appears that puts the very existence of Earth at risk.
The game will have the biggest DC roster ever offered in a game that features fan favorites including Batman, Superman, Aquaman, and Supergirl. New villains include Gorilla Grodd and Atrocitus. Battles will take place across Gotham City, Metropolis, and Atlantis.
Injustice 2 is going to be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next year.
