For a short time yesterday the Fallout 4 Deluxe Edition bundle was available for free on the Xbox Store. It was a pricing error that was quickly fixed but not before some users were able to download it for free. The inadvertent pricing error was quickly acknowledged but those who got lucky won’t be allowed to keep the bundle that normally costs $109.99. The free Fallout 4 licenses have been revoked, Microsoft is making it up to those users by offering them $10 credit as compensation.
The $109.99 Fallout 4 Deluxe Edition bundle includes the full Fallout 4 game as well as all DLC content that has been released so far, this includes Wasteland Workshop, Far Harbor, and Automatron. A season pass for all future DLC content is also included in the bundle.
Those who were able to download it for free would be thinking that they got really lucky, but their luck has quickly run out because Microsoft is not going to allow them to keep the bundle for free even though technically they did nothing wrong. It was a pricing error on the Xbox Store and they just took advantage of it.
Microsoft has started sending Xbox Live users who downloaded the bundled for free messages that say the pricing error on Fallout 4 has been fixed as a result of which their free download is not going to work. “For the inconvenience we will deposit $10 by the end of June in your Microsoft Account,” the message adds.
It’s not as good as getting a $109.99 bundle for absolutely nothing, but hey, nobody ever complained about getting free money.
