However this doesn’t mean that the company doesn’t care about going green. In an interview with the Milwaukee Business Journal (paywall; via Autoblog), the company’s SVP of Global Demand Seam Cummings revealed that an electric Harley-Davidson motorcycle can be expected from the company in the next 5 years.
Now Harley-Davidson has expressed interest in going electric in the past. They created the Harley Livewire project which acted more as a proof-of-concept of what their electric motorcycles could look like. However it seems that if you did like the look of the Livewire project, you might be disappointed to learn that the actual product might not look like that.
This is mainly due to the fact that in order to the life of the battery, which in the Livewire concept only offers a measly 50 miles. To double that, Harley-Davidson will have to redesign the bike, which means we can say goodbye to the sleek and streamlined design of the Livewire. However Harley-Davidson’s bikes have usually been stunners so hopefully they will do right by their official electric motorcycle.
