Diablo 3 is not without its controversies. While at its core it is still the hack and slash adventure game that many of us grew up with, there are changes made to the game that many of the older players did not seem to like, one of which was the introduction of the auction house which was well-intentioned, but did not work out the way they imagined.
The game’s director at that time was Jay Wilson and it looks like not only was his time at Diablo 3 up, but so is his time at Blizzard and in the gaming industry. Wilson has recently announced that he will be leaving Blizzard and the gaming industry entirely to pursue his other passion, which is writing.
In a series of tweets, Wilson wrote, “Sad to say after 10 of the best years of my life this will be my last week at Blizzard. I’m leaving to pursue my original passion, writing. It’s what I was doing when I fell into this job, and I’ve always wanted to return to it.” It should be noted that Wilson left the Diablo 3 project back in 2013,
He was involved in other Blizzard games like the Warlords of Draenor expansion for World of Warcraft. As it stands, the future of Diablo remains unclear. Last we heard, Blizzard could be considering moving to Diablo 4 instead of releasing a new expansion, and just earlier this year, there was a job listing hinting that a new Diablo game could be in the works.
