Destiny players are anxiously waiting for Bungie to confirm the next major expansion for this popular game. Previous leaks have suggested that this expansion is going to be called Rise of Iron. Bungie hasn’t confirmed anything yet but new evidence has surfaced which will lead many to believe that the next Destiny expansion is indeed called Rise of Iron.
A supposedly premature advertisement has been spotted on Google which mentions that Destiny: Rise of Iron expansion, adding that it brings a new story, raid, gear, and weapons.
The advertisement points to Bungie’s website and clicking on it does open up the developer’s website, however, the page hasn’t been updated with information about Rise of Iron just yet. It still displays information for the previous expansion called The Taken King.
I should point out here that all of this could be an elaborate hoax. The rumor mill is convinced that Destiny’s next expansion is called Rise of Iron, but no official confirmation has been made yet. It’s quite possible that someone just spent a bit of money to promote this Google search result even if that sounds like a very odd thing to do.
There is a bit of positive news as well. Bungie is believed to have filed for a trademark for Rise of Iron, so all hope may not be lost just yet. Bungie is going to talk more about Destiny and any expansions that it may have in the pipeline on June 9th, so we’ll know for sure then.
