It was back in February this year that Comcast confirmed it’s intention to roll out its gigabit internet service in five cities across the country. It said that the 1Gbps service is going to be available to customers in Atlanta and Nashville early this year, while folks in Detroit, Chicago, and Miami will get it later on in 2016. Comcast has now confirmed that it has started rolling out the gigabit internet service in Nashville.
Initial customers in Nashville will be able to get the promotional contract price of $70 per month for 36 months, or they can opt for an everyday price with no contract at $139.95.
I should point out here that the $70 per month package will provide 1GB down and 35MB up speeds without any bandwidth cap, while the no-contract option is capped at 1TB bandwidth.
Nashville is now the second Comcast market where the DOCSIS 3.1-based gigabit service has been rolled out, Atlanta became the first back in March this year.
To learn more about this service, current, and new Comcast customers can head over to xfinity.com/gig and request additional information on this trial. If customers are selected for the trial they will be among the first to experience DOCSIS 3.1 technology and get internet speeds of up to 1 gigabit.
