According to Bob Maresca, CEO and president of Bose, these speakers were inspired by the company’s founder who used to take apart electric trains and piece them back together, which in turn taught him how they worked in the process. “That spirit is still at the heart of Bose. And it’s a great example of what we’d like BOSEbuild to offer – fun and relatable ways for kids to make something they really want and can use for years to come, while learning about the incredible science and technology behind it.”
The speakers are said to be easy to build and will teach kids like how a magnet and a coil can produce sound, and how a speaker can reproduce music. There is a companion app for the speaker that will deliver the coaching instructions and step-by-step guidance throughout the entire process.
Kids can even add colored lights and covers, ultimately customizing and personalizing the speakers to their own taste. The speakers themselves are Bluetooth meaning that once they are fully assembled, they will be able to be used like regular speakers. Priced at $150, the BOSEbuild isn’t exactly cheap, but if you think having a learning experience and a set of speakers at the same time is worth it, head on over to Bose’s website for the details.
