It was just the previous summer that ZTE managed to position itself as more than a decent smartphone manufacturer over in the US, with its releases in that part of the world. It does look as though ZTE is going to go full steam ahead in the US market, where someone managed to spot a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal, where ZTE USA issued a note of thanks its millions of users for their smartphone choices. Even more interesting is the device that makes an appearance right at the bottom of said ad.
It does look as though the mystery device would be part of the Axon range for the fact that the grille-work happens to be a giveaway, and it shares a mighty close resemblance with the device that appeared in the month before over at China’s FCC equivalent, that is, TENAA. A rose, by any other name would smell just as sweet, which is why ZTE’s model A2017 is also widely believed to be the upcoming Axon 7.
After all, the antenna stripe in the TENAA side view does make itself line up with the ad in The Wall Street Journal. Of course, all of this is pure speculation until something more official is revealed by the folks over at ZTE, so we will simply have to wait and see.
