It’s no secret that Xiaomi is going to launch a drone in the very near future. Even the company has sent out teasers which clearly hint what’s coming. We have to patiently wait for it to tell us the specifications and features of this drone, that’s going to happen soon as the company has confirmed it’s going to launch the Mi Drone tomorrow.
Xiaomi has a clear strategy whenever it brings a new product to the market. Offer specs comparable to rival products but at a lower price. It has followed this strategy with almost all of the products it has released and many would say that the strategy has worked.
The company needs to stick with this if it wants the first drone it has ever made to do well in the market. High-end drones from the likes of DJI can cost more than $1,000 but Xiaomi’s Mi Drone capable of recording 4K video is reportedly going to cost around $600. It’s about 25 percent cheaper than the Phantom 3 4K by DJI which costs $799.
It remains to be seen if the drone is good enough to command the $600 price tag in a market that’s already very competitive. We’ll find out more about the Xiaomi Mi Drone soon as the company’s head of international expansion has confirmed that Xiaomi is going to launch this product tomorrow. The drone is also going to be Xiaomi’s first big product for the U.S. market.
