We’re pretty sure when the Warcraft movie was originally announced that it was met with both excitement and skepticism. The Warcraft franchise is an old franchise and beloved by millions upon millions of gamers around the world, but at the same time the skepticism stems from the fact that video game movies tend to be pretty bad.
Unfortunately reviews of the Warcraft movie haven’t been too kind, but it seems that despite the negative reviews, the movie appears to be doing pretty well. The movie has been launched in several countries ahead of its official June 10 release in the US and according to the numbers, it has managed to rake in $9.3 million in revenue.
In addition to pulling in that amount of money, the movie has also managed to secure the number 1 spot in countries like Germany, Denmark, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Lebanon, Switzerland, Thailand and the UAE. However it should be noted that the budget for the movie is $160 million, which means that Legendary still has a long, long way to go before breaking even.
The movie is also expected to launch this weekend in both Norway and Sweden, so it will be interesting to see how it does then. Like we said, reviews haven’t been favorable for the movie, but here’s hoping its strong fanbase will allow the studios to recoup their investment.
