There was never really any clarity of owners of the Motorola Droid Maxx 2 on Verizon since the handset didn’t make it on Motorola’s list of devices that would receive the Marshmallow update. Owners of this handset on Verizon will be happy to find out that the carrier is now rolling out the much-awaited Marshmallow update for the Droid Maxx 2. The update has been released over-the-air and it should have gone live for everybody by now.
With this update, the Motorola Droid Maxx 2 on Verizon is now on the latest iteration of Google’s mobile operating system. Whether or not it gets updated to the next major Android release that Google will announce later this month is another matter altogether.
The official changelog mentions that this update is going to bring Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the device which comes with enhanced app permissions, battery-smart features and a lot of overall improvements that users will appreciate.
Since this is a major update users will first need to connect their device to a Wi-Fi network and ensure that there’s ample charge in the handset’s battery before they download and install the update.
Droid Maxx 2 owners on Verizon who still haven’t received the update notification can head over to their phone’s Settings menu to check for the update manually. It should have gone live for all regions by now.
