As one of the most popular logistics companies on the planet, chances are you might have waited on a UPS parcel at some point in your life, and if you felt that package tracking could have been much better your prayers have finally been answered. UPS package tracking has received a major improvement and it now offers true package tracking, enabling you to see where the truck that’s carrying your package is on a map that’s accessible using the PC or the smartphone app.
UPS calls this “Follow My Delivery,” and there’s a condition attached to it. This minute-by-minute tracking service is only available for packages shipped using the more expensive UPS Worldwide Express and UPS Air options.
If the package has been sent using either of the two options, you will then have to sign up for a free UPS My Choice account to get these improved tracking capabilities. My Choice allows you to reroute “most” packages to a UPS Access Point location nearby, to the workplace or even to your neighbor’s house if you are not going to be home to receive the package.
You will be able to view the driver’s position on the map when delivery is in progress but the app won’t reveal the driver’s exact route for safety reasons. UPS users will just welcome the ability to truly track their package and if they don’t use the more expensive options they have to sit tight for a while because UPS will make Follow My Delivery available to cheaper options in the future.
