Twitter Gets Flexible On 140-Character Limit

Earlier in the year, there were whispers of Twitter actually allowing 10,000 character tweets, but it looks as though that is not going to happen anytime soon. Rather, those who make full use of Twitter and would like to have a wee bit more wiggle room in their tweets will be pleased to hear that Twitter is viewing their 140 character limit in new light – that is, Twitter might just not take into consideration photos and links as part of the 140 character limit.

In other words, users would end up with a little bit of breathing room to write some more. Of course, this does not mean that URL shorteners would be out of business, they will still be an essential part of Twitter-dom, and the good thing is more ideas and messages can be crammed into a single tweet than ever before. Word on the street has it that this change is set to hit Twitter in the coming fortnight, although we would prefer to sit tight and wait for an official announcement as that would be the far more prudent and responsible thing to do.
