Making a pre-emptive strike against some of the fastest growing music services out there, Spotify today announced a major upgrade for its Family Plan. Previously the plan only allowed users to add up to five individual members and it used to cost over $30 for all users. It’s making things much simpler now by allowing up to six individual members on a family plan all for $14.99 per month.

Those who are already on the Family Plan will continue to receive all that they love about this premium service, features such as separate accounts, own playlists, offline listening, and personal recommendations.

Existing subscribers also get the ability to add more family members to the same plan, the upgraded plan allows six, so that’s how many they can have on their plan following their next payment date.

Everything else remains the same. Subscribers get access to Spotify’s music library of more than 30 million songs, as well as additional content.

Spotify’s upgraded Family Plan is now live for users across the globe, exclusive Canada, and can be signed up for by going to spotify.com/family.

This move follows in the footsteps of rival services like Google Play Music and Apple Music, who have all made it cheaper for families to get on the same plan so that they can save money while having premium access to streaming music.
