Sony Xperia XA Ultra Launched With 6-inch Display, 16MP Selfie Camera

sony xperia xa ultraWhen it comes to the screen sizes on our smartphones, we have to ask at what point does it start getting a bit too unwieldy? 5-inches? 5.5-inches? 5.8-inches? Bigger? We suppose that is subjective depending on the user in question, but if a huge display is a must even if it is slightly inconvenient, Sony might have something for you.

In an announcement on Twitter, Sony has officially taken the wraps off the Sony Xperia XA Ultra. As the name implies, this is the “Ultra” version of the Sony Xperia XA that was launched earlier this year, with one of the noticeable differences in hardware being its display. The Xperia XA packed a 5-inch display, but the Ultra variant features a massive 6-inch display with an upgraded screen resolution of 1920×1080 (versus the 720p HD on the Xperia XA).

Under the hood, the phone is powered by a MediaTek MT6755 processor with 3GB of RAM and an expandable 16GB of storage. It will also come with a 16MP front-facing camera with OIS and LED flash, and a 21.5MP rear-facing camera which oddly enough does not seem like it sports OIS, so it looks like this phone is catered towards those who love a good selfie.

Sony is also boasting that the battery on the Xperia XA Ultra will last a good 2 days on a single charge. The phone has been pegged for a release in July but no word on pricing just yet.
