A rumor from last week revealed some pretty far out claims with regards to the next-gen MacBook Pro. According to the rumor, the laptop will feature an OLED touch panel above the keyboard along with support for Touch ID, in addition to the other rumors about it being really thin and light compared to its predecessors.
Now thanks to the folks at Cult of Mac, they have managed to get their hands on photos that seems to confirm some of the specs. As you can see in the photo above, it is the alleged photo of the chassis belonging to the upcoming MacBook Pro. The keyboard seems to be pretty standard, but as you can see there is a huge blank space above the number keys, where supposedly the OLED touch panel would go.
Presumably the OLED panel will be replacing the function keys on the laptop and given that it is also a display, means that users can customize it any way they want to include shortcuts for app launches, or maybe make it contextual depending on the app that you are running (like media controls when watching a movie or playing music, or editing shortcuts when you use Photoshop, and etc.).
That being said, there are other photos that shows that the new MacBook Pro will be going all-in with USB-C. Thankfully this isn’t the case like with the 12-inch MacBook as the photos suggest that Apple will be introducing four USB-C connectors, with two on each side. Safe to say that it should be taken with a grain of salt, but what do you guys make of the design so far?
