Now if you’re in the market for a internet browser for your laptop that won’t be a battery drain, you might be interested in checking out Opera. The company has recently announced that they are planning on introducing a power saving mode to their browser, which according to them will be able to extend your laptop’s battery life by up to 50%.
According to Opera, they achieved this by trying to replicate real-life usage as much as possible. “We started by studying how our laptop users interact with the browser, which inspired us to create benchmarks that resemble real-life usage. Unlike speed benchmarks, there is quite a lot idle time and background activity. And, surprisingly, you can save a lot of energy from optimizing those states.”
Based on their findings, like we said, they managed to extend a laptop’s battery by as much as 50%. That being said, the power saving feature is only in the developer version of Opera so head on over to their website for the download. However we expect that they will release it to the masses in the near future so you can opt to wait for that release if you want.
