NextVR and Live Nation Will Broadcast Concerts In Virtual Reality

Virtual reality is fast becoming a new entertainment standard and the industry is responding to the rise in its popularity. Sporting events, cinematic experiences, and even political debates are being recorded and distributed in virtual reality and this is only going to grow. NextVR, a company that has previously been involved with streaming sporting events and more in virtual reality, had confirmed that it will team up with Live Nation to broadcast concerts in VR.

This partnership between NextVR and events company Live Nation will see hundreds of live concerts being streamed in virtual reality to fans across the globe. This isn’t the first partnership of this sort as UMG and iHeartRadio have both announced plans this year to stream concerts in VR.

The company is yet to confirm which concerts will be broadcasted in virtual reality but it does promise “regular supply of world-class live music shows.” The first of the live show broadcasts will take place this summer while the full list for the coming year will be released later. As the case has been with previous NextVR broadcasts, these concerts will be available to Gear VR users with support for other virtual reality platforms coming soon.

Given that some of Live Nation’s upcoming shows include massive stars like Beyonce and Rihanna, if NextVR is able to broadcast those shows in VR, that’s going to bring in a lot of people to virtual reality and that’s the ultimate goal.
