EA’s Battlefield franchise and Activision’s Call of Duty franchise are so similar in concept that it is pretty obvious that they are fierce rivals. Now last we heard, the next Call of Duty title is expected to be officially announced on the 2nd of May and it looks like the next Battlefield game’s announcement isn’t too far behind.
According to a tweet by the official Battlefield account, it has been confirmed that the next Battlefield game will be announced on the 6th of May at 4PM ET. The event will be streamed live via the Battlefield website and will also feature the lead development team, so if you’d like to find out what’s next in the Battlefield franchise, you should probably mark that date down.
Now word on a new Battlefield title was actually confirmed last year, but then again given the popularity of the franchise it isn’t a stretch to think that a new title was in the works for 2016. Details of the game remain scarce but last year heard, there were talks that we might be looking at a World War I setting.
This would no doubt be a pretty stark contrast to Battlefield Hardline, a more modern and urban take on the game which for the most part, has been largely military-inspired. In any case for those who can’t tune into the livestream, be sure to check back with us on the 6th of May for all the details.
