It was rumored earlier this year that Netflix could be considering giving the Punisher his own TV series. Following Jon Bernthal’s performance in the second season of Daredevil, fans then launched a petition to give Netflix the push they need to make the series a reality, and it looks like when there is demand, there is supply.
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly (and confirmed by Netflix on Facebook), it looks like the Punisher will indeed be getting his own TV series. Details are a bit scarce but safe to say that Jon Bernthal will be returning to reprise his role as the vigilante, with Steve Lightfoot set to write the script and be the show’s executive producer.
It is unclear as to who else will be starring in the series, what the story will be about (hopefully it isn’t an origin story since we kind of already know what happened), who could be the show’s main antagonist. There is also no word on when the show will be coming out, but with Luke Cage set for this year and Iron Fist presumably for 2017, we guess we might have some waiting to do.
Either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled so if you loved Bernthal as the Punisher or if you are a fan of the Punisher comic series, then check back with us later where hopefully we’ll have more updates to share with you guys.
