For those who didn’t already know, YouTube on the desktop has search filters that lets you filter videos depending on when it was uploaded, the type of video, duration, features, and more. This no doubt saves users a ton of time from having to go through pages upon pages of search results, although admittedly YouTube does a pretty good job by default.
That being said, it seems that more filter options will be coming to the mobile version of YouTube. This is according to a discovery made by those in the XDA forums (via PhoneArena) in which they found that in the latest YouTube mobile app, there were strings that seemed to reference more filter options for the app.
For example they found that soon users would be able to filter videos based on its rating, by relevance, and also by view count. These options have yet to make its way into the app, but given its presence it is not unreasonable to think that it could be added in the near future or in an upcoming update, assuming that it can’t be enabled server-side.
Given that a lot of videos are being watch on mobile these days, we guess it makes sense that YouTube would want to make its mobile apps as feature-rich as its desktop version as possible.
