Jolla, the company that was started by previous employees of Nokia and MeeGo, can be said to have had moderate success to date. After all, they have not yet closed down, have they? While there has been closure to the Jolla Tablet in the past, not to mention gaining some interest in their Jolla Sailfish OS as well as smartphone, here we are with its second smartphone – the Jolla C.
This new handset is all set to be part of the spanking new Sailfish Community Device Program which will cater to developers. Developers will be the ones to gain access to the exclusive live community sessions, as well as invitations to community events, not to mention the handset itself.
In terms of hardware, do not expect too much from the Jolla C as it comes packed with a standard version of Sailfish OS 2.0 sans any other third-party applications, alongside a 5” 720p IPS LCD display, a quad-core 1.3GHz Snapdragon 212, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, an 8MP shooter at the back and a 2MP front-facing camera, all of them being powered by a 2,500mAh battery. Expect only a thousand of the Jolla C devices to be manufactured for the program members. [Press Release]
