If you keep going back to the same hotel often enough, eventually you will find a room that you really like that you’ll want to keep returning to. Or maybe you just know that you’d prefer waking up to the sun behind you or in front of you, or maybe you’re a fan of having a pool/sea view, and so on, all of which can be requested, or in the case of Hilton’s HHonors app, you get to choose it yourself.However it seems that being able to pick the exact room you want isn’t enough because Hilton has recently announced an update to the app in which it will now be integrated with Google Maps. Now you might be wondering why would a hotel app need to have Google Maps integration? The idea is that with Maps integration, it lets users check out the surroundings of the hotel to decide which room they might prefer.
According to Mark Weinstein, senior vice president and global head of Loyalty and Partnerships, Hilton Worldwide, “Guest preferences continue to evolve and, thanks to our digital innovations and category-leading partners like Google, we’re providing even more personalized experiences for our Hilton HHonors members. By continually evolving our Hilton HHonors app, we’re empowering our members with more control over their stay experience.”
The app won’t just show the surroundings of the hotel, but it will also allow guests to visualize their room in relation to the streets, public transport, parks, and so on. Now we’re not sure if this is going to be a killer feature or just a novelty one, but if you do tend to stay at Hilton hotels then maybe this could be worth checking out. The app is available via the iTunes App Store or Google Play depending on your platform.
