Now if you were hoping for Kojima to come up with a new engine for his new company and new game, unfortunately that won’t be happening, at least not as far as his next game is concerned. According to Kojima, “I actually think it’s better to make games using internal tools. As for my first title, because I want to release it to the people who are waiting for it, for that title we are going to use a third-party engine – the reason I am travelling around the world is looking for such technology to use.”
Like we said, many are anticipating what Kojima has cooking and while we doubt he will be rushing to bring a new game to the table, shopping for a third-party engine or one that already exists would no doubt help cut down development time significantly, plus it could also be something that gamers might be familiar with already.
So far he has made pit stops at Quantic Dream and Crytek, but it doesn’t look like he has decided anything yet. He also adds that his next title, which will apparently appeal to Uncharted fans, will be a big one, despite his initial plan to make it small. “At the beginning I was thinking to make a small title, [but] after I met friends and acquaintances worldwide they said, ‘no everyone’s expecting you to make a big title’. So the first title coming from me will be a big title.”
