One of the perks of Disney owning Marvel is that they get to create rides based around Marvel’s intellectual properties, of which there are many. Now Guardians of the Galaxy might not have been a particularly popular back in the day, but safe to say that the movie has since propelled it into mainstream consciousness, so it looks like a theme park ride is in order, or so the rumors claim.
According to a report from Slashfilm, they have heard from their sources that Disney’s California Adventure could be installing a Guardians of the Galaxy ride in the near future. Apparently this new ride is expected to takeover the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror which apparently will be taken down this fall, and in its place a new Guardians of the Galaxy ride will be built into existence.
This rumor has since been corroborated by MiceAge, but interestingly enough both publications are having a little disagreement about the theme of the ride. MiceAge claims that the ride will be based around the Collector character from the comics/movie, while Slashfilm suggests that the ride will be based around the prison escape sequence from the first movie.
The idea is that the ride will be launched in time for the movie, which is due for a release in May, 2017. Disney themselves have not officially announced anything so take it with a grain of salt for now.
