We have heard whispers going around that Apple are working on an in-home hub which will eventually be able to go toe-to-toe with the Amazon Echo as well as Google Home, so what do you think would be the most suitable name that will accompany this venture? Perhaps it might be the next generation Apple TV, but until something official is revealed, we will just have to live in the shadow of speculation and take everything we read with a pinch of salt.
VentureBeat has cited an unnamed source that touts on how Apple would prefer to include Echo-like features to a revamped version of the Apple TV as opposed to building something new from ground up. Just for a refresher, the Amazon Echo happens to be an in-home personal assistant device compete with a built-in speaker as well as a robust AI system, hence allowing it to perform a variety of functions including providing the latest weather updates, answering queries and controlling smart home devices.
Should there be a revamped Apple TV model, it might see the inclusion of a dedicated microphone and speaker, alongside better Siri integration so that it can be on par at least with the Amazon Echo, and then to work from there. Only time will tell whether this will turn out to be true or not.
