The Cavaliers have recently announced that they have teamed up with Budweiser and DODOCase in which at today’s playoff against the Atlanta Hawks, they distributed 750 specially created virtual reality headsets to attendees of the game, making it the first time that an NBA team has integrated virtual reality in the arena experience.
The accompanying app will offer up four different videos for users to choose from, including a courtside view of the National Anthem performance, player introductions, a tour of the Cavaliers’ locker room, and their practice facility. To top it off, the headset will also be able to double up as a beer holder because you know, Budweiser.
According to Mike Conley, Cavs VP of Digital, “We’re always looking for new ways to connect with our fans by leveraging emerging technologies that deliver unique experiences. VR was a logical next step and an area we’re excited to explore. The technology has endless opportunity and thanks to our partnership with Budweiser and Yinzcam, we’ve been able to get a head start in the emerging VR space with the new video content available on the Cavs App.”
