Facebook hosts a lot of videos, and if you were wondering when you’d be able to stream those videos from your phone to your TV via the Google Chromecast dongle, you’ll be happy to learn that it is a feature that could be arriving soon. This is thanks to the folks at Android Police who received screenshots of the feature.
As you can see in the screenshot above, it shows Facebook videos playing on an Android device. However what you might not have noticed is the fact that there is now an embedded Chromecast icon which when pressed, will stream the video to the device your Chromecast is connected to, but it should be noted that this feature appears to be in testing as pressing the button will load a Facebook-branded screen but nothing will happen after that.
Like we said, there’s a good chance that the feature is in testing and that full functionality will probably roll out at a later date. We should also note that the user who sent in the screenshot was using a beta version of Facebook for Android and is living in Brazil, so maybe the feature could be region-limited at the moment as well as being in beta.
In any case we guess being able to stream to the Chromecast isn’t really that much of a stretch, so based on this it is only a matter of time before it becomes a mainstream feature for Facebook users.
