It has been a while since BlackBerry came out with a new smartphone. Chances are that we’re going to see an Android device from the company since it hasn’t really been talking about releasing a new device running on BB10 OS, but has mentioned the possibility of two Android handsets arriving this year. Specifications of one of those handsets, codenamed BlackBerry Hamburg, appear to have leaked online.
It appears that the handset made a stop at GFXBench and laid bare everything that it has inside. Specifications from GFXBench reveal that the BlackBerry Hamburg features a 5.2 inch Full HD display with a Snapdragon 615 processor under the hood paired with 3GB of RAM.
It also reveals that the handset has 16GB of onboard storage, a 12 megapixel rear and 8 megapixel front camera as well as Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow preinstalled straight out of the box.
Previous reports about this handset indicate that it’s going to be an all-touch model, meaning it won’t have that iconic BlackBerry keyboard, the keyboard-touting model is believed to be the BlackBerry Rome. Hamburg’s design is said to be similar to the BlackBerry Z30.
BlackBerry released its first Android-powered handset in November last year, the Priv didn’t really do as well as the company would have hoped, but for now it appears that the company will test its fortunes in the mobile market by relying on Android as the underlying OS for its smartphones.
