The Asus Zenfone 3, which is the next generation model of the Zenfone series, is set to arrive later this year, which would be later than originally expected as Asus CEO Jerry Shen has stepped forward to pinpoint a roll out date that would be somewhere in June. This Zenfone 3 will not challenge for honors on the high end side of things, but rather, they will target the mid-range market, where it has an average selling price that will be a wee bit higher than that of what previous generations came with.
What kind of expectations does Asus have for the Zenfone 3 Max? Well, they do seem to be rather optimistic to think that this particular model will make up two-thirds of total shipments, whereas the base Zenfone 3 and Zenfone 3 Deluxe will comprise of the remaining one third.
Not only that, Mr. Shen noted that 90% of Zenfone 3s will be powered by a Qualcomm chipset, whereas just 10% will run on MediaTek chipsets. It looks like Asus is making a shift from Intel chipsets to other manufacturers, which does suggest that they are mulling over their mobile strategy at the moment. Other rumored specifications point to a fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C. Any takers?
