Based on the reactions of the official Assassin’s Creed movie trailer, it seems that many people are happy with what they see from the trailer. Of course trailers can be deceiving but for the most part, it doesn’t look particularly corny/cheesy and if you did not know any better, you’d probably think it was just a regular action/adventure movie.
However it seems that Ubisoft is beyond confident in the movie and according to Azaizi Aymar, the Head of Content for Assassin’s Creed at Ubisoft, he has taken to Twitter (via PlayStation Lifestyle) to boast about how good the movie is and how it will be the first video game movie to not suck.
In response to a question which reads, “Can we all agree that movies based on videos have and never will work.” Aymar responded by saying, “Nope we can’t. There is always a first, like comic book adaptation. Assassin’s Creed will be that one, mark my words pal! ;)” Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot had previously expressed similar sentiments, which we guess to be fair shouldn’t be surprising. If what they’re trying to do is drum up hype for the movie, we have to say that they’re doing a pretty good job.
However there have also been reports that the movie was good enough where even though it hadn’t aired to the public, a sequel had already been greenlit. In any case we suppose we’ll find out for ourselves come 21st December, 2016.
