According to a report from Nikkei (via BGR), it seems that one of Apple’ suppliers, Catcher Technology, might have accidentally let slip that next year’s iPhone will sport an all-glass design, which at the same time confirms what we had heard previously from well-connected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Catcher CEO Allen Horng was quoted as saying, “As far as I know, only one [iPhone] model will adopt glass casing next year. I don’t think this move will have an impact on Catcher’s revenue as glass casing still needs a durable metal frame which requires advanced processing technology and would not be cheaper than the current model.”
We had also previously heard from Apple blogger John Gruber that we could also be looking at an iPhone with an edgeless display and no home button, with the possibility of Touch ID being hidden under the glass panel. Based on all of this, it’s starting to look like next year’s iPhone model is going to be one of the worst-kept tech secrets of all time, but at the same time we doubt that it will diminish the excitement surrounding it anyway.
