A lawsuit has been filed against Apple in which a company by the name of Corydoras Technology claims that Apple has violated its patents. The patents in question are related to the iPhone’s ability to make phone calls, as well as the ability to send and receive emails, which to be honest sounds incredibly general and could apply to pretty much any smartphone today.
The lawsuit covers several iPhones and dates back to the iPhone 4. It also covers every single iPad that Apple has released dating back to the iPad 2. In addition, the company also claims that Apple violated a patent related to video calling, which they claim is similar to Apple’s FaceTime video calling feature.
If anything it sounds like the company is a patent troll who is merely seeking a settlement of sorts. We have seen many similar cases over the years, although this is probably one of the more ridiculous ones since it seems to target the iPhone’s basic function. The lawsuit has been filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas where similar lawsuits were filed in the past.
