It goes without saying that with Google I/O right around the corner, there will be plenty of whispers going around concerning all things Google, ranging from their latest products to services. Well, there is one particular aspect that does seem to have been neglected for some time – the expansion of the Android Pay facility to those who happen to reside in the UK. There were whispers of UK retailers putting up Android Pay signage the week before, and this might just be in preparation of what might be announced at Google I/O.
Google has started to invite users to download the Android Pay app and did make note that it is “Now available in the UK.”, although this particular “victory” happened to be rather short lived. Since it went “live”, there were reports streaming in from different users via social media (where else?) that pointed out how Google’s announcement was rather premature, with such given links to the Play Store expressly pointing users to messages such as “This item is not available in your country.”
Google has since taken down that tweet, and put up a new message, “Excited for #AndroidPay in the UK? We are too! Not quite there yet, but keep checking back.”
