At some point in our lives, we’ve all picked up a call on our phones while they’re plugged in and charging. This doesn’t seem like a very dangerous thing to do but there have been many cases of people getting injured or worse while using their phone without unplugging it first. The latest such incident is of a woman who was reportedly electrocuted as she was talking on her phone while it was still plugged in and charging.
The woman from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was reportedly electrocuted at her home over the weekend as she continued talking on her phone while it was still charging. She was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately she was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.
“She was suddenly hit by the current caused by the phone that was being charged,” her husband was quoted as saying by a local newspaper.
The reports don’t mention which phone she was using but it’s being speculated that perhaps she was using an uncertified and unofficial charger with her phone which caused the accident. There have been many reports of counterfeit chargers burning phones and electrocuting users so that possibility does exist.
The lesson here is that one should avoid using uncertified and unofficial charging accessories as they do pose a real risk to your safety, and since it merely takes a second to unplug your phone before taking a call, one should always be safe than sorry.
