According to a recent sighting in an MSDN document (via Neowin), it appears that Microsoft might have listed support for a certain Qualcomm MSM8998 chipset. Some of you guys might be scratching your heads wondering what that chipset is. After all at the moment we only know of the MSM8996 which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820.
Turns out that rumors have suggested that the MSM8998 is the model number for the unannounced Snapdragon 830. If this is true, don’t be surprised to see that in the future, we will see Windows 10 Mobile devices powered by Qualcomm’s top of the line processor. Now it seems unlikely that the Snapdragon 830 will be released so soon, after all 2016 appears to be the year of the Snapdragon 820.
Even the Samsung Galaxy S6 has been rumored to sport a Snapdragon 823 chipset, so if you are hoping for a Snapdragon 830 Windows 10 Mobile device, chances are you might have to wait until 2017.
