Raise your hands if you still use voicemail. Back in the day before messaging, leaving voicemails used to be a thing where you could get people to call you back should they miss your call, or leave a message stating your intentions, but in today’s society with a bevy of messaging apps and social media at our disposal, is voicemail really necessary?
Apparently WhatsApp seems to think so. According to a report from Phone Radar, they have uncovered evidence to suggest that WhatsApp could be building a voicemail feature into their app. Given that the app now supports voice calling, we guess adding voicemail seemed like a logical step, although given that the person still needs to look at their phone when listening to voicemail, dropping a message would serve the same purpose, if not better.
There also appears to be hints that the company could be adding a call back feature. This is expected to show up in the notification that you missed a voice call, and that you have the option of calling them straight back, thus allowing them to make the call without having to launch the app and go through the motions.
Unfortunately there is no telling when the voicemail feature will be coming to the app, but what do you guys think? Is this a feature you think you might actually use?
