Even though the upcoming Uncharted title is called “A Thief’s End,” Naughty Dog hasn’t denied that the possibility exists that a new Uncharted title might be released at some point in the future, and it isn’t denying the possibility that some other studio might work on what may be called Uncharted 5.
The Uncharted series has been very lucrative, it has sold more than 21 million copies as per Sony’s latest count, and a movie is already in development. It makes perfect sense to keep the train moving as it makes money for a lot of companies involved.
Neil Druckmann, the director of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, has said that he would be happy if another studio takes over the development for Uncharted 5, but it’s contingent on the studio getting the “essence” of Uncharted just right.
Speaking with GamesRadar, Druckmann said that he’d be excited if that studio made a great game, adding that “I’d want to play an Uncharted I didn’t work on. It’d be a lot of fun.”
That being said, it’s not like Naughty Dog will be out of the picture for the next title if some other studio makes it, Naughty Dog will continue to have a big part in any sequel since it created the franchise.
It was only a couple of days ago that a 16-minute gameplay video of Uncharted 4 was posted online, it gave us a glimpse of just how stunning the game looks, make the wait even harder for fans who just want to get their hands on this title.
