If the rumors are to be believed, Microsoft is said to be working on a device called the Surface Phone. Ever since the Redmond company acquired Nokia’s mobile division, we have only seen Lumia handsets churned out which means that the Surface Phone could mark a huge shift and a new start for the company’s mobile efforts.
Now according to the latest reports, word on the street has it that the Surface Phone could be packing some serious hardware. As you might have heard, Microsoft recently revealed that one of the chipsets supported by Windows 10 Mobile is the unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 830. This has led to speculation that the Surface Phone could pack the Snapdragon 830 chipset under its hood.
However it seems that in addition to that, there are rumors indicating that the Snapdragon 830 could support as much as 8GB of RAM, which once again led to speculation that the Surface Phone could also feature that much RAM. Of course whether or not we actually need that much RAM in a smartphone is debateable.
At the same time it’s hard to ignore the fact that more OEMs are starting to stuff more RAM in their phones these days. In any case this is just speculation for now, but if they are true, Microsoft could have a serious beast on their hands that could give the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 6 a run for its money.
