The online TV streaming service Sling TV has been around for over a year now and it has gradually increased the number of channels available to subscribers. As a result of a new deal signed by Dish and Viacom, Sling TV subscribers will also get access to additional channels like MTV, Comedy Central and more in the near future.
Both companies were involved in negotiations for a considerable amount of time in order to renew a contract that was set to expire this coming Wednesday. Had a deal not been reached by then, Viacom channels would no longer have been accessible to Dish users.
Viacom and Dish were able to come to an agreement and have now renewed their contract for multiple years. The new deal applies to all of Viacom’s channels that were previously available to Dish subscribers. No additional details of the deal were made public.
It was confirmed in the announcement that as a result of this deal, Sling TV subscribers will receive new channels like Comedy Central, Spike, MTV, BET and Nick Jr. aside from many other channels. However, they’re going to have to wait a few months for these channels to arrive,” the press release said that they will go live on Sling TV “in coming months.”
