We suppose that really remains to be seen, but in an interview with Videogamer, the game’s producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi seemed pretty optimistic about it. According to Hirayabashi, “Yes, I’m confident we can [recapture the feeling of the original].” He also points out that the first Resident Evil remake was proof that they could repeat their success with Resident Evil 2.
Hirayabashi was quoted as saying, “As you mentioned, the first game’s remake is held up as proof that a remaster can recapture the original game, and as it so happens, the RE GameCube remake was my first project at Capcom. I was able to learn from more experienced colleagues and see with my own eyes how they translated their efforts into such a masterpiece that built on an already well-received game. It was an incredibly valuable experience for me.”
Unfortunately for now it remains to be seen as to when the Resident Evil 2 remake will be released as Capcom has not confirmed any dates yet, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for it.
