It didn’t take long for the PlayStation 4 to establish its dominance in the market against the Xbox One soon after both consoles were released a couple of years back. Since then Sony’s console has been leading its Microsoft rival in worldwide sales and this trend is expected to continue in the years to come. A new report suggests that by 2019 there will be 108 million units of the PS4 and Xbox One out there combined and that the former will account for the bulk of them.
Data shared in a Game Developers Conference presentation from Wargaming estimates that by 2019 there will be 108 million units sold combined of PS4 and Xbox One and that the PlayStation 4 is going to lead with 69 million units sold and Xbox One coming second with 39 million.
It was also claimed during the presentation that currently there are over 36 million active PlayStation 4 consoles in the market today as opposed to an estimated 19 million Xbox One units. Wargaming compiled its data from sources like IDG Consulting, Superdata, and IHS, not directly from Microsoft or Sony.
Microsoft doesn’t provide precise sales figures but it was last reported that it had sold some 18 million units, while Sony officially confirmed that it had sold more than 36 million PS4 consoles worldwide.
