For some reason, Nintendo has been pretty coy about their plans for the Nintendo NX. Last year they announced that they were working on a new console, but little to no details were offered. We expected more details to be shared this year, but so far Nintendo has only confirmed that it will see a March 2017 release.
However game lineup, specs, and pricing remain a bit of a mystery, but it looks like we will learn more later this year. According to a report from Nikkei (via Nintendo Life), they claim that the company will be officially announcing additional details about the console and its lineup later this year, which we guess would be better than waiting until next year which would seem a bit last minute.
So far the only confirmed title for the NX is the upcoming The Legend of Zelda which has been pushed to 2017, but other than that it’s really anyone’s guess. It’s also anyone’s guess as to what kind of specs the console could be packing. We have heard rumors that it could allow 900p/60fps gameplay, and that it might even support virtual reality.
There are rumors that even suggest that there might be a mobile version of the console, and recently leaked images seemed to hint at what the console’s controller could look like, although admittedly we are a bit skeptical. In any case we guess we have no choice but to wait as Nintendo’s E3 presence will not be about the NX, but hopefully more details will surface soon.
