Postmates today announced that it’s launching a new service for folks in New York City. The service is called Postmates Pop and it promises delivery in 15 minutes or less. Postmates Pop has been available to users in San Francisco since October last year and it also went live in Los Angeles just last week. With today’s announcement, Postmates Pop is finally making inroads on the East Coast.
Using the on-demand delivery app, users can order lunch items from a selected menu and get them delivered in 15 minutes or less. Since New York City is massive, the company can only provide this service is selected areas initially. Users between 34th Street and Bowery in Manhattan can take advantage of Postmates Pop.
It’s interesting to note that Postmates has launched its quick food delivery service in New York City soon after Uber shut down a similar service, Uber’s Instant Delivery also allowed users to order through a curated menu and have the food delivered in ten minutes or less.
Uber didn’t really go into the detail of its decision to suspend Instant Delivery in New York City even though the service continues to be available in cities like San Francisco, Chicago, and Houston.
Postmates Pop is now live in New York City, the best part is that users aren’t charged a delivery fee for their orders.
