Online video streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are working on adding titles that have support for HDR streaming. Since content is limited right now both of them don’t have huge libraries of movies and TV shows that can be streamed in HDR but they’re gradually building their libraries. Netflix has confirmed that by the end of this year it’s going to add about a dozen movies and TV shows that can be streamed in HDR.
Netflix currently has several HDR-supported titles in its library, these include some of its original titles like Daredevil and Marco Polo as well, and this list is set to increase by the end of this year.
The company mentions on its official blog that it’s going to add HDR-supported titles which include Chef’s Table, Bloodline, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Defenders, The Do-Over, The Ridiculous Six, Hibana, Knights of Sidonia and Iron Fist to its library.
The online streaming giant hasn’t confirmed when exactly these titles will be offered for streaming in HDR but it does say that over 100 hours of content will by available by the end of August and 150 hours by the end of 2016. HDR streaming is only offered to subscribers on Netflix’s Ultra HD plan and they’ll also need a TV which supports HDR to enjoy content in High Dynamic Range.
