Microsoft Outlook Premium Enters Invite-Only Testing

This might not interest you if you’re happy with using Outlook the way millions of other people do across the globe but do read on if you’re looking to get a bit more out of this Microsoft service. Microsoft today launched invite-only testing for Outlook Premium, it’s a paid subscription service that provides subscribers with additional features that conventional Outlook users won’t get.

With Outlook Premium, subscribers get five personalized email addresses and easier calendar sharing between them as well as a “distraction-free” inbox that doesn’t have any banner ads.

Customers who subscribe to Office365 get Outlook Premium for free, but for everybody else this service costs $3.99 per month. Microsoft is giving all users in the pilot program a year’s worth of free access to Outlook Premium.

The service enables subscribers to have email addresses managed by Outlook but without the Outlook.com domain, to provide domains Microsoft has teamed up with GoDaddy, which will handle the domain registration business.

Once the domain is registered, subscribers can get five personalized email addresses on the domain aside from the ad-free inbox. There aren’t that many features right now that would justify the $3.99 per month charge so it’s likely that Microsoft would add more features down the like to provide more value for money.
