Now if this kind of put you off, you can rest assured that there is no marketing gimmick or lie here. In a statement LG issued to the folks at Android Authority, the company reassures customers that the LG G5 is made from metal, and that the portion scratched and revealed in the video is actually not plastic, but rather it is primer and the reason for hiding it is so that the phone will offer up a clean look.
This is versus Apple’s recent iPhones in which the plastic antenna breaks are kind of ugly. According to LG’s statement, they claim that this is so that “the insulative antenna is invisibly integrated into the body without disrupting the seamless look of the metal uni-body.” So hopefully LG’s statement will be enough to let their customers know that there is nothing shady going on, just a design choice that seemed to have been blown a bit out of proportion.
