lg_g5_friendsWhile the LG G5 is no doubt a powerful handset, we reckon its selling point would be its modularity in which users can swap out components for other components when necessary. Granted it isn’t fully modular compared to other devices like Project Ara, but it’s a step in the right direction without being too confusing or intimidating.

That being said if you are interested in the modules that LG has to offer, you will be pleased to learn that LG has announced that they have launched their “Friends” online store. This is basically a portal in which customers will be able to find and purchase the different “Friends” module designed for the LG G5 (and presumably future LG handsets as well).

According to Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics and LG Mobile Communications Company, “Expanding the LG mobile ecosystem will be our top priority with G5 and Friends this year as we work earnestly toward delivering a playful mobile experience through a diverse collection of Friends.”

Now the online store sells pretty much all of the “Friends” modules and other accessories at the moment, but we should point out that not all of them will be available in the US. For example (and for whatever reason that LG isn’t saying), the Hi-Fi Plus module made with Bang & Olufsen will not be available stateside, so that’s something to take into consideration when shopping.
