One of these modules will be used to snap color images, whereas the other is used to shoot monochrome photos. These two images will then be merged in a rather smart manner via the included software, resulting in a photo that boasts of the colors captured by a regular sensor, complete with the full detail that black-and-white images come with.
The teardown clearly reveals the two-bit module in a very visible manner, and it looks as though there is some sort of flex cable that snakes its way all around on the inside, which looks as though it caters for the fingerprint scanner within. Well, it is nice to see that some folks are willing to “sacrifice” their smartphones for the sake of knowledge, and for this, we are extremely grateful as it means we do not need to take apart our own smartphones to find out what’s underneath the hood.
