Huawei’s upcoming flagship has been leaked a lot over the past few weeks and today the company formally unveiled it at its event in London. The Huawei P9 and P9 Plus are official now, they have a 5.2 inch and 5.5 inch full HD 1080p display respectively with a dual camera set up from Leica.
The partnership with Leica that puts the dual camera set up on these handsets is really the defining feature of the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus. They feature a 12 megapixel SUMMARIT H 1:2.2/27 dual lens rear camera with dual LED flash and laser autofocus. The handsets have serious imaging power.
Under the hood, the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus feature an octa-core 2.5GHz Kirin processor with 3 or 4GB RAM depending on the storage option chosen. They also have a 3,000mAh battery that’s claimed to be good for up to 12 hours of HD video playback.
There’s a USB Type-C port and a fingerprint sensor on the back as well as support for microSD cards and dual SIMs. The P9 and P9 Plus also have something called Press Touch Display which uses two level pressure sensitivity to determine how forceful a tap is. This functionality will be supported by 18 native apps at launch. An IR blaster can also be found onboard.
Huawei P9 and P9 Plus will be available in rose gold, haze gold, prestige gold, ceramic white, titanium grey and mystic silver. The company says that it’s going to release the new handsets on April 16th in several markets across Europe and the Middle East with prices starting at €599.
